Position Title: WORLD WIDE SALES LEAD
Reporting to: VP, Commercial Operations
Location: Deerfield, IL

Renessen is focused on innovation and committed to delivering high quality biotechnology traits to the feed and processing industries. A joint venture between Monsanto Company (www.monsanto.com) and Cargill, Inc. (www.cargill.com), Renessen utilizes Monsanto’s capabilities in plant breeding and biotechnology research and development and Cargill’s expertise in animal nutrition, grain processing and logistics.

The World Wide Sales Lead is responsible for the sales of Renessen’s value added products. This role reports to the VP, Commercial Operations and will be a key member of the Renessen Commercial Team. This position manages a global sales team comprised of sales leads and animal nutritionist/technical support individuals. In addition, this position has considerable interface with Cargill’s grain merchants and nutritionists in key countries.

This hands-on, solutions-oriented position will contribute significantly to Renessen’s success by developing excellent working relationships with multiple stakeholders such as: Customers, Cargill business units & individuals working on Renessen projects, and business partners.


• Sales Leadership:
   o Leadership and direction to the sales team and to the Cargill Business Units involved
      in selling Renessen products
   o Effective communication, coordination, and delegation to enable high performance
      teamwork across geographies and companies
   o Business plan, budget, annual goals
   o Relationship management with Cargill key leaders

• Sales (with the Sales team):
   o New customer development
   o Developing and maintaining key customer relationships
   o Administrative support including contracts, collections, LOC,

• Marketing
   o Product value discovery and demonstration
   o Market/geography analysis
   o Customer selection
   o Pricing strategies and direction
   o Communication and marketing materials
   o Marketplace knowledge, trends, competitor assessment

• Grain Merchandising
   o Logistics and grain flow management
   o Cargill interface, outsourcing

• Training
   o Effective training to ensure that the sales team and other key individuals
       are equipped to sell value-added products.


• Minimum of 10 years or equivalent of progressive business experience in a
   world wide sales leadership role

• Minimum of 5 years of grain merchandising skills and experience in areas such
   as contract management, grain flows, logistics and customer management

• Minimum of 10 years of international sales experience would be preferred

• Value-based sales mindset and practical experience in developing customers,
   setting up product trials to demonstrate proof of value proposition

• Established market experience and industry network in order to be able to close sales deals,
  understand how structure and norms of how business is done, and have established industry connections

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to work across various
   companies and business units effectively

• Practical sales force management experience or leading a team towards achieving
   a common goal and set of deliverables

• Effective planning and delegation skills

• Effective organizational skills

• Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage multiple projects

• Effective collaboration skills in a team-based environment

• Proven track record in initiating and implementing creative solutions and process improvements

• Fluency in an Asian or Latin American language would be an asset
